Foothills Ride For Stars

September 22nd, 2018

STARS Air Ambulance flies out to equestrian accidents when we need them most. In return this fundraiser event exists to raise money for STARS and keep them in the air. The Foothills Ride for STARS offers the unique opportunity to ride on pristine private land SW of Calgary near Priddis.

The Ride

The location is  The Crestview Ranch, a magical place where  Fish Creek wanders through the beautiful foothills. There are well cut trails over acres of terrain.

After breakfast, which is provided by The Stampede Caravan Committee, the ride is broken into small groups of 10-15 riders that are each led by an experienced wrangler and depart 5min apart.  This works great as we avoid all the tension of having big groups of horses riding out at the same time. The trail ride will be about four hours in total, with a 45 min stop at a fun-filled half-way destination.  We will have food and live entertainment at the half-way point again.

Join in the day with a hike or ride in the wagon to the half-way. This was an splendid time for those who took part last year. You don’t have to have a horse to get to be part of all the fun. The hike was around an hour and a half out to the half-way and half an hour back.  All ages welcome, however, the wagon is more suited to those less able to walk long distances. Limit of 50 people for the Wagons and 50 people for the Hike.

Back for it’s third year, the Calgary Hunt Club will join the day and offer up a spectacular hunter jumping course. Natural jumps have been set up around the property. The hunt will take a different route than the trail ride but will end up at the same half way destination.
